Benjamin J. Solomon

Ben Solomon was born and raised in the Imperial Valley. He is currently the Director of the Imperial Valley College Small Business Development Center (SBDC). His work experience includes over 23 years of management in private and public organizations. Additionally, he has over 14 years experience in small business management. He has worked for the City of El Centro, County of Imperial, City of Santee and a pharmaceutical research company in San Diego, California.

Mr. Solomon holds a Masters degree in Organizational Management and Bachelors degree in Speech Communication. He is a certified NxLevel Program Instructor from the NxLevel Training Network housed at the Colorado Center for Community Development, University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado. For over 30 years Mr. Solomon has been a part-time Speech Instructor at Imperial Valley Community College. While attending Imperial Valley College, he placed first nationally in an oratory contest held by the National Organization of Junior Colleges. He was named State and National Oratorial Champion in 1968 and 1969 while attending San Diego State University. While living in San Diego Mr. Solomon taught Speech Communication at Platt College. In 1976, he was named “Outstanding Young Man of America.”

Mr. Solomon has been active locally as a little League and Babe Ruth League manage (12) years. Put together the first Sunday morning gospel music program for Public Broadcasting System’s radio station KUBO. Was Master of Ceremonies at the first Three Imperial Valley College Black Alumni “An evening of Gospel Music.

Mr. Solomon is married to Nettie, they have three grown sons and a granddaughter name Alexxa.
