What is CIPS?

Citizens in Police Services (CIPS) is a new approach to volunteering at El Centro Police Department. CIPS has been incorporated into every facet of the police services. CIPS members are partnered with the police to effectively enhance the quality of living in our community. CIPS also provides the eyes and ears of the police in effectively combating and preventing crime within the community.

Is there anything else I need to know about joining?

Each CIPS applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Successfully complete a background check
  • Successfully pass an interview with the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Complete a Volunteer Training program
  • Possess a Driver’s License (only for those whose duty includes driving)
  • Be at leas 18 years of age
  • Possess enthusiasm, drive and interest in making a difference.
